Explore science topics by performing household experiments - moon phases with marshmallows, chemistry with cabbage, and much more! Hands-on activities that span a variety of science topics, all under the supervision of our expert educators, and in the comfort of your own home.

Math Circle offers math-curious students the opportunity to explore complex mathematical ideas and topics. Facilitated by Dr Paur, class format may vary and may include demonstration of experiments, guided discussions, teamwork, online games, and handouts. Materials needed: 3x3x3 Rubiks Cube (4x4x4 if you can solve the 3x3x3 under 3 min)
*For students signing up for a level that doesn't match their school grade, placement tests will determine level.

Dr Katherine Paur (MIT BS Math, Harvard PhD Math). Dr Paur currently teaches at Nueva High School and NCSSM, and was the former Mathematics Chair at GATE Academy. Prior to GATE, she ran the simulation & modeling group for a robotics company (now called Amazon Robotics), and has 15+ years of experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.

The HSPT prep classes are designed to help students improve their scores on the HSPT with a complete coverage of all sections of the HSPT. Students will take 2 model HSPT tests and a mock exam over the course of the class, learn study skills and test taking strategies, master time management, build self-confidence going into the HSPT.

-We will mail you the class workbook, which includes the tests and worksheets that your child will use during the live online lessons.
-We will use Zoom webinar platform to conduct our live online lessons. Students will be able to live chat with us during the broadcast with any questions.
-Class replays will be made available for students to re-watch later.
-Students will be able to email us outside the class time if they need additional help.
-Enrollment includes access to a video-guided, 2½ hour online Mock Exam at the completion of the course.

In this class, we will cover different map projections and how to read/understand a map/globe. This class will explore religions/ cultures around the world along with physical geography of the earth's surface such as major mountain ranges and lakes.

Does your child have a great sense of humor to compliment his or her artistic skills? If so, your child will LOVE this Cartoon class. We’ll get the party started with learning and drawing expressions. The teacher will guide students with basic sheet pattern work, line control, and expressions. pattern work. We will cover many drawings throughout the session. Big words, Soccer in Action and Candy Characters are a few of the awesome art we’ll be doing this fall. Give your child the gift of learning and artistry!

Get hooked on Chess - a game that promotes logical thinking, problem solving, and foresight! In this class, we emphasize sportsmanship over competitive elements to get our kids excited about chess. Kids learn strategies, openings, solve chess diagrams and puzzles. Class will consist of instruction time followed by playing time with each other and with the instructor. We emphasize a cooperative environment, and learning positive social skills.
FRIDAY
Industrial Product Design $150
9/18-10/30 | 4-5pm

This course is a creative planning process that leads to products. Students will identify criteria and constraints related to the design and development of various products, for example: "a chair usable in extremely cold weather", or, "french fries box with a ketchup container", etc. They will identify and describe the major steps in the engineering design process. They will analyze possible solutions to the design challenge. During every session they will build products using simple materials.
